13 Pinterest Boards that Will Up Your Healthy Cooking Game

Hope you're hungry!
Planning healthy meal after healthy meal is tough, unless you eat the same thing every day--and who wants to do that?? These 6 inspiring boards come to the rescue with an endless array of delicious recipes for all diets.

I don’t know about you, but my taste buds get bored. They crave something different and herb-a-licious. But with a few kids around with limited palettes, things can get monotonous pretty quick. Our food needs to be not just wholesome but good, because if it isn’t, I’ve just wasted my time and cash on something no one wants to eat.

Thank goodness for Pinterest. Not only can I search for specifics, I have a whole community of people out there who are facing the same challenges I am. Gluten free? Protein Heavy? Carb free? Paleo? Picky eater? Vegetarian?

Pinterest has become my virtual cookbook. Long gone are the days of recipe cards and the red Betty Crocker handbook of culinary design. Now, it’s all about variety and ingredient options. I gotta give it to the women who came before me—I can’t imagine being limited to a few cookbooks worth of recipes or ever being brave enough to experiment with ingredients sans guidance—just think of the potential for disaster! (Of course, maybe this says something about my disconnect with food and cooking, but that’s another story…)

These boards have become my salvation. I’ve also found a few new family favorites and an appreciation for the comment section. (As a side note, I usually avoid the comment section of just about anything, but when it comes to recipes, I recommend reading the comments both on Pinterest and the actual pinning site. I’m regularly impressed with recipe alterations and suggestions from other cooks and readers.)

However, the abundance of ideas to sort through can make Pinterest feel a bit overwhelming sometimes. To help you out, I’ve put together some of my favorite boards that address all imaginable meal-prep maelstroms. So next time you’re faced with a case of the Taste Bud Blues, check out these boards for some food-spiration!

For When You Can’t Do Egg Whites One More Time

Cookie and Kate: The Hearty Breakfasts board is swoon-worthy. Seriously. The Blueberry Baked Oatmeal and the Avocado Toast with Persimmon, Pomegranate, and Fennel have elevated my eating from Truckstop to Couture. Get fancy for breakfast.

Get Your Juice On

Pinterest Community: The Juicing Veggies & Fruit community board is a Godsend. Have you ever rolled your eyes at the thought of eating one more salad? I know I need lots of veggies in my diet, but sometimes I feel like there’s not enough time in the day (or room in my stomach) to get them all in. Enter, the Juicer. And the recipes on here aren’t just your typical glass of carrot juice! We’re talking gorgeous concoctions of fruit and veggie blends guaranteed to fill you up and give you energy. Swiss Chard slurpie, anyone?

Ghastly Gluten

Six Sisters: The Gluten Free Recipes board from SS is pretty dang amazing. So incredible that I’ve actually tricked a teenage boy into eating gluten-free lasagna. (I’m not kidding, he asked for a second and third helping.) Their dishes never disappoint and more often than not, the recipes are on the healthier side. People are being diagnosed with gluten intolerance and Celiac Disease at an alarming rate, while even more health conscious folks are switching to a low-gluten diet for its many other benefits. Cutting out the heavily processed grains is not only trendy, it’s kinda smart.

Getting’ Comfy

The Kitchn (Healthy Comfort Food), Fitness Magazine (Healthy Comfort Food), and Jenette Paul (Healthy Comfort Food): I'm including 3 here, because who ever has enough ideas for comfy food? There will be a time when a bowl of macaroni and cheese is the right thing to do, and at those times, these boards will come to your rescue. I’ve seen things on there that I didn’t know were possible… you will be amazed…. And ohhh, so thankful!

Life Is So Much Sweeter

Wellnestings’ Healthy Dessert Recipes: Breathing new life into the idea of a “healthy dessert”, this board will have you ready to get in the kitchen and whip up something sweet and satisfying. The Raw Raspberry and Blackberry Tarts are gorgeous and the Triple Decker Peanut Butter Bars are making my mouth water even as I type this. This exquisite collection of recipes will go a long way toward helping you feel like you’re treating yourself without denying your sweet tooth.

N’body Got Time For That!

Easy Healthy Recipes from Sally’s Baking Addition: There is some genuinely good lookin’ food on this board! The problem with healthy eating is that sometimes, we just don’t have the time. When you’re looking for recipes to nourish the family without spending half a day in the kitchen, this is where you need to go. The depth and variety is impressive.

Honorable Mentions:
